Movin’ on UP

It is no secret that the house I currently reside in is trying to kill me. It’s a 120 year old farmhouse and I’ve posted about it before. Mice in the tub, doors don’t shut, cupboards are rotten, etc. GOOD TIMES. Also, it’s in the middle of nowhere and that doesn’t really help matters.

It’s been a wee bit of a strain on Johnny and my relationship as well because as much as I try not to, I harbor resentment towards him because this house is in such disrepair. I left a perfectly lovely clean and orderly little cottage to move here, and the condition of this place was less than ideal. I might mention as well that my wonderful, charming and handsome husband also has a little problem with clutter. He’s not ready to be on “Hoarders” just yet, but it’s still somewhat alarming. There are more than a few rooms in this old house packed with crap. No kidding. Just crap.
Check it out. This is an actual room in my current home.

I won’t be a complete douche and show you more, but trust me, there’s more. Lots more. However, things are looking up. Johnny and I bought a house last week! A real honest to God house where the toilets flush and the sinks drain. A garage in which you can actually park your car! A real kitchen with cupboards and a lovely stove and refrigerator! Central heat and air! All the lights work and doors all shut and the windows actually open!
Innernet, I am beside myself. I don’t know how to act. I might also mention that it is in a fabulous neighborhood and convenient to EVERYTHING. The location is fantastic and I couldn’t be more thrilled. There are rose bushes in the back yard and the we have two wood burning fireplaces. Azaleas in the front yard and the girls each get their own room. It’s beautiful and totally suits our little family. I can’t wait to be there permanently.
Which brings us to the fun part. Packing and actually moving. Holy shit. I’m daunted and overwhelmed by the task ahead of us, but it’s still very exciting. I have threatened Johnny’s life and he’s assured me that he’s going to purge the junk and then we’ll have a colossal yard sale. We’re only taking what we use and what is dear to us. A fresh start, hurrah!
This month is going to be totally nuts but it’s a chaos I can embrace. I may have mentioned before that we have two bathrooms currently, but neither work completely. You can poop and shower downstairs, but the sink doesn’t work, therefore you have to go upstairs to brush your teeth. You can poop up there, but there is no shower, only a tub. FUN. Anyway, the other night I came home from work and went upstairs to wash my face and change into comfy clothes. As I was washing my face the sink filled up with water (as usual, no drainage) and then suddenly I felt water on my feet. I glance down and see a pool of water gathering on the floor at the base of the sink. As it slowly drained I could hear more water falling. I ran downstairs and sure enough, the ceiling in the downstairs bathroom was gushing water into the NON-functioning sink. Now where in the hell is that going to go? Geez.
So, for the last week we’ve been brushing our teeth in the kitchen sink. It’s awesome.
As I sit here posting, Johnny is at the hardware store. He’s been working on the upstairs sink this afternoon. Sure, the pipe broke, but the cause of the drainage problem? A DEAD MOUSE in the pipe.
I’m SO ready to move. Yesterday!

Can't wait to see pics of the new house. Well not the inside if it looks like this one. haha Try this, when packing if you go to pack something that you haven't used in the past 6 months to a year. Chuck it out, you won't use it in the new house.
